In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Peter Visconti, who got on base in all four of his plate appearances with one home run, four stolen bases, and three runs. He has been hot, having posted at least one stolen base the last seven times he's played. Patrick Davidson was another key player, going 2-for-3 with three RBI, one stolen base, and one double.
Meanwhile, after soaring to 11 runs the game before, Union Grove was a bit more limited in their matchup on Saturday. They lost 8-1 to Middleton.
Union Grove also got a good showing from Jayden King, who tossed three innings while giving up no earned runs off four hits. What's more, King gave up only one walk, the fewest he's had since back in April.
Union Grove's loss dropped their record down to 9-9. As for St. Joseph, they pushed their record up to 18-3 with the victory, which was their third straight at home.
St. Joseph's speedy runners might be the difference in Wednesday's game. The Lancers have been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 5.8 stolen bases per game. It's a different story for Union Grove, though, as they've been averaging only 1 stolen bases. Will they be able to secure the bases, or will St. Joseph continue to outrun the ball?
St. Joseph came up short against Union Grove in their previous meeting back in May of 2023, falling 11-8. Can the Lancers avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
