After having lost a blowout in their previous game against Athens Christian, the Rabun County Wildcats were happy to have found some success on Friday. They enjoyed a cozy 79-61 win over Elbert County. Having run the score up that high, both teams probably have some extra defensive drills coming up.
Cooper Welch was his usual excellent self, dropping a double-double on 23 points and ten rebounds. Another player making a difference was Reed Burrell, who dropped a double-double on ten points and 11 assists.
When it comes to explaining why Elbert County lost, one person who can't be blamed is Grady Jones. Despite the final result, he scored 29 points along with two steals. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Jones has scored all season. The team also got some help courtesy of Landon Hill, who scored 13 points.
Rabun County's win bumped their record up to 7-13. As for Elbert County, they have traveled a rocky road recently, as they've lost five of their last six games, which put a noticeable dent in their 5-15 record this season.
Coincidentally, the two teams will both be playing Tallulah Falls the next time they take the court. Rabun County will head out to face Tallulah Falls at 8:30 p.m. on Tuesday, while Elbert County will head out to face them at 8:30 p.m. on Thursday.
