After a string of three wins, the Warren Easton Fighting Eagles's good fortune finally ran out on Thursday. They fell 52-40 to Fort Bend Elkins. The result shouldn't come as a shock considering that's the fewest points Warren Easton has scored all season.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Fort Bend Elkins to victory, but perhaps none more so than Matthew Nyakundi, who dropped a double-double on 12 points and 11 rebounds. The game was Nyakundi's eighth in a row with at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Todd Woods, who scored seven points along with five assists and three steals.
Warren Easton's defeat dropped their record down to 9-9. As for Fort Bend Elkins, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won ten of their last 11 matchups, which provided a massive bump to their 13-8 record this season.
Warren Easton will head out on the road to face off against Booker T. Washington at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. Booker T. Washington is coming into the game on a six-game losing streak. As for Fort Bend Elkins, they will look to defend their home court on Wednesday against Fort Bend Dulles at 7:00 p.m. Fort Bend Dulles will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Texas Rankings (they are ranked 241st, while Fort Bend Elkins is ranked 109th).
