Newark is 4-0 against LaMoille since January of 2022 and they'll have a chance to extend that success on Tuesday. The Newark Norsemen will take on the LaMoille Lions at 5:30 p.m. Newark is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 54.8 points per game this season.
Last Friday, Newark ended up a good deal behind Somonauk and lost 54-37. The Norsemen haven't had much luck with the Bobcats recently, as the team's come up short the last two times they've met.
Reggie Chapman put forth a good effort for the losing side as he went 6 for 12 en route to 14 points and five assists. Austin Reibel was another key player, putting up six points.
Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask LaMoille). They walked away with an 82-72 win over Illinois Math & Science Academy on Saturday. The victory was a breath of fresh air for the Lions as it put an end to their nine-game losing streak.
Newark better keep an eye on Tyler Billhorn. He was instrumental in LaMoille's win, dropping a double-double on 30 points and 11 boards. The dominant performance also gave Billhorn a new career-high in assists (eight). Another player making a difference was Brayden Klein, who went 8 of 18 on his way to 17 points and three steals.
They weren't the only one working in the assists department: LaMoille was working as a unit and finished the game with 28 assists. That's the most assists they've managed all season.
LaMoille's record now sits at 5-19. As for Newark, their defeat was their first in the conference, dropping their conference record down to 7-1 and their overall record down to 13-11.
Rebounding is likely to be a big factor in this contest: Newark has been crashing the rebounds this season, having averaged 26.4 boards per game. However, it's not like LaMoille struggles in that department as they've been averaging 29.5 rebounds. With both teams battling to corral missed shots, we'll see if one team can grab an edge.
Everything came up roses for Newark against LaMoille in their previous meeting back in February of 2024, as the squad secured a 55-27 win. Will Newark repeat their success, or does LaMoille have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
