Softball Recap: Monday's Win Is Kewanee's Sixth in Last Seven Outings

Kewanee was handed a heart-breaking two-run loss in their last game, but they sure didn't let that happen against Hall on Monday. The Boilermakers never let the Red Devils get on the board and left with a 10-0 victory. Considering the Boilermakers have won four contests by more than five runs this season, Monday's blowout was nothing new.

Kalleigh Gale made a splash no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run and allowing only one hit while striking out 12 over five innings pitched. She has been consistent : she hasn't given up more than one walk in six consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, scoring two runs and stealing a base while going 1-for-3.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Rylee Blades, who scored two runs and stole a base while getting on base in all four of her plate appearances. The dominant performance also gave her a new career-high in RBI (three). Remy Hicks was another key player, scoring a run while going 2-for-3.

Kewanee hit smart and finished the game with only one strikeout. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Hall struck out 12 times.

Kewanee is on a roll lately: they've won six of their last seven matches. That's provided a nice bump to their 8-5 record this season. Those wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 8.4 runs over those games. As for Hall, their defeat was their first in the conference, dropping their conference record down to 2-1 and their overall record down to 3-8.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Kewanee will welcome Farmington at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Hall, they will look to defend their home field on Wednesday against Putnam County at 4:30 p.m.
