Basketball Recap: Anna Cutrell and Cami Slagel Secure Win for Prairie Central

There's no place like home for Prairie Central, who bounced back after a loss on the road last Monday. They walked away with a 46-37 win over the Paxton-Buckley-Loda Panthers on Thursday. The victory was a breath of fresh air for the Hawks as it put an end to their four-game losing streak.

Prairie Central was led to victory by Cami Slagel and Anna Cutrell. Slagel dropped a double-double on 18 points and 12 boards, while Cutrell posted seven points along with five rebounds and five steals. Those 12 boards gave Slagel a new career-high. Jayla Hammond was another key player, putting up nine points and five rebounds.

Prairie Central smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 16 offensive rebounds. The team's really been improving in that area: they've now improved their offensive board total in three consecutive matches.

Prairie Central's win bumped their record up to 9-16. As for Paxton-Buckley-Loda, they are on a 15-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 2-24.

Prairie Central has already played their next contest, a 44-22 defeat against Illini Central/Greenview on the 1st. As for Paxton-Buckley-Loda, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next game, a 53-36 victory against Riverton on the 1st.
