After each having a week off, the New Canaan Rams and the Greenwich Cardinals will shake off the rust and duke it out at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Both teams are still undefeated (New Canaan has 15 wins dating back to last season, while Greenwich has eight dating back to last season).
New Canaan will roll into the game after a wild two-game stretch: they only put up seven points on October 4th, then bounced right back against Danbury last Friday. The Rams breezed past the Hatters to the tune of 43-10. The result was nothing new for the Rams, who have now won four contests by 20 points or more so far this season.

Henry Stein had an outrageously good game as he rushed for 157 yards and two touchdowns on only 11 carries, and also picked up 40 receiving yards. Those two rushing touchdowns gave him a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Maddox Hoffman, who threw for 165 yards and a pair of TDs on perfect 12-for-12 passing.
They were just one part of a punishing run game: New Canaan was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 202 rushing yards. That's the most rushing yards they've managed all season.
New Canaan didn't go easy on the quarterback and picked off two passes before the game was over. Blake Schwartz picked up that interception and then proceeded to rub salt in the wound by taking it back the other way for a touchdown. He got in on the action too, converting a pick into a touchdown.
Meanwhile, you can't lose the game if you win every quarter, and that was precisely Greenwich's strategy against Trumbull last Saturday. Given that consistent dominance, it should come as no surprise that the Cardinals blew the Eagles out of the water with a 44-7 final score. The Cardinals might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won three matchups by 31 points or more this season.
New Canaan better keep an eye on Hector Lopez(C). He was instrumental in Greenwich's win, rushing for 182 yards and one score while picking up 10.1 yards per carry, and also picking up 43 receiving yards and one touchdown. Lopez(C) is crushing it when it comes to rushing yards: he's rushed for at least 104 every time he's taken the field this season. Phil Tarantino was another key player, rushing for 53 yards and a pair of TDs.
Greenwich's victory bumped their record up to 5-0. As for New Canaan, their win bumped their record up to an identical 5-0.
New Canaan was able to grind out a solid victory over Greenwich in their previous matchup back in October of 2021, winning 14-7. Will the Rams repeat their success, or do the Cardinals have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
