Each year since 2006, MaxPreps has recognized outstanding performers in high school football. America's source for high school sports continues the tradition to close out the 2025 season by naming the top player in each state. Selections are based on team success and individual excellence in addition to local and state accolades.
Landen Williams-Callis of
Randle (Richmond) is the 2025 MaxPreps Texas High School Football Player of the Year. The 5-foot-8, 190-pound junior running back led the Lions to a 15-1 record and Conference 5A Division 2 state runner-up finish.
For the season, Williams-Callis piled up 324 carries for 3,491 yards and 59 touchdowns. He added 24 receptions for 266 yards and another score.

Williams-Callis rushed for at least 100 yards and a touchdown in all 16 games. He ran for 300 yards or more with six touchdowns three times.
In the state championship game, South Oak Cliff (Dallas) snapped Randle's 31-game win streak despite Williams-Callis tallying 258 all-purpose yards and two touchdowns.
Williams-Callis ran 144 times for 1,250 yards and 22 touchdowns in six playoff games.
In a 49-42 win over Iowa Colony during the regular season, Williams-Callis went for a season-high 342 yards with six touchdowns on 28 carries.
Through three seasons at Randle, Williams-Callis has 756 carries for 7,543 yards and 125 touchdowns. He needs 3,835 yards as a senior season to break Kaegan Ash's career record of 11,377 yards.
Williams-Callis has led the Lions to a 42-3 record and back-to-back Conference 5A Division 2 state title game appearances.
Each state's MaxPreps Player of the Year will be considered for inclusion in the MaxPreps All-America Team.
