The Waxahachie Indians waltzed into their matchup on Friday with two straight wins but they left with three. They secured a 63-57 W over Lake Ridge. The victory was all the more spectacular given Waxahachie's disadvantage in MaxPreps' Texas basketball rankings (they are ranked 45th, while Lake Ridge is ranked eighth).
Waxahachie got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Parker Jefferson out in front who dropped a double-double on 21 points and 13 rebounds. Jefferson hasn't dropped below 17 points for five straight games. Another player making a difference was Trae Nunn, who scored 16 points.
Lake Ridge lost despite a true team effort on the offense, the best among them being Amir McMillian, who scored 19 points along with four steals. Ahmare Rose was another key contributor, scoring 15 points along with eight rebounds.
Waxahachie has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won 12 of their last 14 games, which provided a nice bump to their 20-10 record this season. As for Lake Ridge, their defeat dropped their record down to 26-6.
Waxahachie will head out on the road to square off against Skyline at 8:00 p.m. on Tuesday. One thing working in Waxahachie's favor is that they have posted big point totals in their last 15 contests. As for Lake Ridge, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Cedar Hill at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Lake Ridge has been dominant on offense recently, as they've racked up an incredible 1,377 points over their last 20 games.
