The Edgewood Red Wolves had to endure a three-game losing streak, but that streak is no more. They came out on top in a nail-biter against Odyssey Charter School on Friday and snuck past 44-41. The victory was just what Edgewood needed coming off of a 68-47 defeat in their prior matchup.
Edgewood's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Jeffrey Almeda led the charge by scoring nine points along with 14 rebounds. Almeda continues to roll, besting his previous point total in each of the last three games he's played. Another player making a difference was Eddie Monterrubio, who scored 13 points along with three steals.
Edgewood's win bumped their record up to 2-5. As for Odyssey Charter School, their defeat was their sixth straight on the road dating back to last season, which bumped their record down to 3-6.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Edgewood will be home for the holidays to greet West Shore at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Odyssey Charter School will be home for the holidays to greet Master's Academy at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
