4A Region 4 recap October 29, 2013
Adding to the longest winning streak in 4A Region 4 this week, Noxubee County beat Caledonia 34-6. This was the team's fourth consecutive win.
Noxubee County took down the Confederates 34-6 last week, the largest margin of any game.
Garrison Howell provided a threat through the air and on the ground as Houston lost to West Lauderdale. He completed 12 passes for 137 yards and also ran for 12 yards. Howell's key target this week was Denver McQuary, who caught 6 passes for 87 yards.
Lavonta Luckett was the best running back in the league this week. In 18 carries, he ran for 130 yards as Leake Central fell to the Knights. Jamari Green also contributed to the rushing game with 110 yards on the ground.
Leake Central's offense has been unstoppable this season and the Gators feature the season leaders in passing, rushing and receiving yards. Jamall Collins has thrown for 800 yards and 7 touchdowns this season, while Greg Collins has 24 catches for 388 yards.
A big matchup in the league this week will be when Kosciusko takes on West Lauderdale. The Whippets are currently in fourth, while Stan McCain's team is in first.
There should be lots of points scored when Caledonia and the Gators face off this week. The top two offenses in the league, Andy Crotwell's team comes in having scored 165 this season, while Leake Central has scored 214. The Confederates scored 6 points last week as they lost to Tyrone Shorter's team.
Kosciusko led 4A Region 4 in scoring this week by notching 45 points on John Sallis' team.
