If the Creekside Knights were riding high off their 51-30 takedown of the Fletcher Senators on Thursday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. Creekside fell 57-45 to Providence School on Saturday. While losing is never fun, Creekside can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Florida basketball rankings (they are ranked 172nd, while Providence School is ranked seventh).
Several Knights players turned in solid performances, despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Jade Spivey, who scored 13 points. Cami Waters was another key contributor, scoring seven points along with three steals.
Janai Jordan was her usual excellent self, scoring 19 points along with five assists for Providence School. Those five assists set a new season-high mark for her. Another player making a difference was Julianna Baskin, who scored 14 points along with nine rebounds.
Creekside's defeat dropped their record down to 4-4. As for Providence School, the victory for they keeps them at an undefeated 9-0.
Creekside will be home for the holidays to greet Ridgeview at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Ridgeview will be looking to extend their current four-game winning streak. As for Providence School, they will head out on the road to face off against Hawthorne at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Hawthorne is on a three-game streak of home wins, Providence School a three-game streak of away wins -- so someone will have to leave a streak behind on the court.
