The Victory Christian Center Kings proved they can win big on Friday (they won by 42) but on Saturday they proved they can win the close ones too. They had just enough and edged Northside Christian Academy out 36-33. The victory made it back-to-back wins for Victory Christian Center.
Despite the loss, Northside Christian Academy saw an underclassman step up: JaKaila Gaskin dropped a double-double on 15 points and 15 rebounds. Gaskin has been hot recently, having posted eight or more rebounds the last four times she's played. Courtney Ashford was another key contributor, scoring 11 points along with three steals.
Victory Christian Center has been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four games, which provided a nice bump to their 12-9 record this season. As for Northside Christian Academy, their defeat dropped their record down to 15-10.
Victory Christian Center will head out on the road to challenge Gaston Christian at 5:30 p.m. on Monday. Gaston Christian is out to stop a six-game streak of losses at home. As for Northside Christian Academy, Northside Christian Academy and Westminster Catawba Christian will face off at 5:30 p.m. on January 30th without much rest after finishing up games yesterday. Westminster Catawba Christian is coming into the game hot, having won their last four games.
