Surry County has won eight straight games at home (dating back to last season), while Sussex Central has won eight straight on the road, but those streaks won't matter much on Tuesday. The Cougars will host the Tigers at 3:30 p.m. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.
On Thursday, Surry County got the win against Brunswick by a conclusive 14-5. The win continues a trend for the Cougars in their matchups with the Bulldogs: they've now won eight in a row.

Dalton Pierce was a major factor no matter where he played. He looked comfortable on the mound, striking out nine batters over seven innings while giving up just two earned (and three unearned) runs off seven hits (and only one walk). He has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't given up more than two walks in five consecutive appearances. He was also big at the plate, going 1-for-5 with two stolen bases, three RBI, and one run. That's the most RBI he has posted since back in March of 2024.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Dawson Keckler, who went a perfect 4-for-4 with four runs, three RBI, and one triple. That's the most RBI he has posted since back in April of 2024. Another player making a difference was Madox Rath, who went 3-for-4 with three RBI, one stolen base, and one run.
Surry County was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .387. That was just more of the same: they've now posted a batting average of .310 or higher in three consecutive matches.
Meanwhile, it was a proper cat-fight when Sussex Central challenged Charles City on Monday. The Tigers were the clear victors by a 23-6 margin over the Panthers.
Surry County's victory bumped their record up to 7-1. As for Sussex Central, their win bumped their record up to an identical 7-1.
