The Sinton Pirates will face off against the Zapata Hawks on Saturday. Sinton will be looking to extend their current nine-game winning streak.
Sinton is on a roll after a high-stakes playoff matchup on Saturday. They skirted past Columbia 4-3. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest victory the Pirates have posted since March 20th.
Henry Nunn looked comfortable as he pitched 2.2 innings while giving up no earned runs off two hits.
At the plate, Dylan Arriaga was incredible, going a perfect 3-for-3 with two runs, one triple, and one double. The team also got some help courtesy of Austin Mutchler, who got on base in all three of his plate appearances with two stolen bases and one run.
Meanwhile, while Zapata put up plenty of runs on Saturday, the same can't be said for La Feria. The Hawks put the hurt on the Lions with a sharp 13-0 win.
Noel Camarillo was a major factor no matter where he played. He looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run and allowing only two hits while striking out eight over five innings pitched. He has been consistent: he hasn't given up more than two hits in five consecutive appearances. He was also big at the plate, going 2-for-4 with two RBI.
In other batting news, Ram Garcilazo was a standout: he went 1-for-2 with two runs, one stolen base, and one double. That's the most runs he has posted since back in March. Ryan Solis was another key player, earning four RBI and one run.
Zapata was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .407. The team's really been improving in that area: they've now improved their batting average total in three consecutive contests.
Sinton's record is now 21-6-1. As for Zapata, their record now sits at 11-14-1.
Zapata's pitching crew has a crucial task ahead of them: Sinton hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .345. It's a different story for Zapata, though, as they've only averaged .243. Will they be able to contain Sinton's hitters?
Sinton got the 'W' in their previous matchup back in May of 2025 against Zapata by a conclusive 11-1 score. Do the Pirates have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Hawks turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
