The Purdue Polytechnic Techies will be taking part in a tournament against the Cathedral Fighting Irish at 6:00 p.m. on Saturday. Purdue Polytechnic knows how to get points on the board -- the squad has finished with 55 points or more in their past four contests -- so hopefully Cathedral likes a good challenge.
Purdue Polytechnic is headed into the game having just posted their closest win since December 12, 2023 on Thursday. They narrowly escaped with a victory as the team sidled past Covenant Christian 59-57.

Purdue Polytechnic got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Tj Williams out in front who went 7 for 12 on his way to 19 points and five boards. The match was Williams' fifth in a row with at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Damion Green, who posted seven points in addition to nine rebounds and seven blocks.
Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Cathedral). They really took it to Indianapolis Scecina Memorial for the full four quarters, racking up a 100-38 victory. The Fighting Irish have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won five contests by 20 points or more this season.
Purdue Polytechnic better keep an eye on Brady Koehler. He was instrumental in Cathedral's win, going 12 of 16 en route to 28 points along with six boards and three blocks. That's the most points Koehler has posted since back in January of 2024. Another player making a difference was R'Mani Wells, who went 8 for 12 on his way to 18 points and six rebounds.
Cathedral was working as a unit and finished the game with 26 assists. That's the most assists they've managed all season.
Cathedral's win was their fifth straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 10-4. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 84.2 points per game. As for Purdue Polytechnic, they are on a roll lately: they've won six of their last seven games, which provided a nice bump to their 12-6 record this season.
Some high-performance offense is likely on the agenda as Purdue Polytechnic and Cathedral are some of the highest scoring teams in the league. Purdue Polytechnic hasn't had any problem running up the score this season, having averaged 59.4 points per game. However, it's not like Cathedral struggles in that department as they've been averaging 72.5 points. With both teams so easily able to put up points, the only question left is who can run the score up higher.
Purdue Polytechnic was dealt a bruising 98-53 defeat at the hands of Cathedral in their previous meeting back in January of 2023. A big factor in that loss was the dominant performance of Koehler, who went 7 of 10 en route to 21 points and five boards. Now that Purdue Polytechnic knows the damage he can cause, will they be able to stop him this time? There's only one way to find out.
