The Croatan Cougars will stay at home for another game and welcome the Dixon Bulldogs at 8:30 p.m. on February 6th. Expect the scorekeeper to be kept busy: if their previous games are any indication, the pair will really light up the scoreboard on Tuesday.
Croatan put the finishing touches on their eighth blowout victory of the season on Friday. They took their contest at home with ease, bagging a 89-58 win over West Carteret. The score was close at the half, but Croatan pulled away in the second half with 52 points.
Jaden Hilliard and Trey Jones were among the main playmakers for Croatan as the former dropped a double-double on 19 points and 11 assists and the latter shot 4-for-6 from downtown and dropped a double-double on 39 points and ten rebounds. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Jones has scored all season. Another player making a difference was Luke Green, who almost dropped a double-double on ten points and nine rebounds.
Meanwhile, Dixon's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Thursday after their sixth straight loss. Their rough 80-55 defeat to Swansboro might stick with them for a while. Dixon has not had much luck with the Pirates recently, as the team's come up short the last six times they've met.
Croatan's victory bumped their record up to 16-4. As for Dixon, they have traveled a rocky road recently having lost ten of their last 11 contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 6-14 record this season.
Croatan strolled past the Bulldogs in their previous matchup back in January by a score of 86-69. Will Croatan repeat their success, or do the Bulldogs have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
