Softball Recap: Pine Lake Prep Has No Trouble Against Corvian Community

Pine Lake Prep never let their opponents score on Friday. They put the hurt on the Corvian Community Cardinals with a sharp 15-0 win. The result was nothing new for the Pride, who have now won six games by ten runs or more so far this season.

Kristen Armstrong was a major factor no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, striking out six batters over two innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit (and only one walk). The dominant performance also gave her a new career-low in walks (one). She was also big at the plate, going 2-for-3 with one triple, two RBI, and one run.

In other batting news, Sydney Gillmore and Ava Cornacchione did most of the damage at the plate: Gillmore scored three runs and stole a base while getting on base in all three of her plate appearances, while Cornacchione scored two runs while going 2-for-3. What's more, Cornacchione posted two doubles, the most she's had since back in March of 2024. Another player making a difference was Emery Jensen, who scored two runs while going 2-for-2.

Pine Lake Prep always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .630. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Corvian Community only posted an OBP of .182.

The victory made it two in a row for Pine Lake Prep and bumps their season record up to 6-1. The wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 15.5 runs over those games. As for Corvian Community, their loss was their sixth straight on the road dating back to last season, which dropped their record down to 0-6.

Pine Lake Prep didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next contest, a 2-0 victory against Lincoln Charter on the 25th. As for Corvian Community, they have also already played their next matchup, a 10-4 defeat against Bradford Prep on the 28th.
