The Hoxie Indians waltzed into Thursday's contest with two straight wins but they left with three. They were the clear victor by a 62-38 margin over Oakley. Fans of Hoxie have seen this all before: every one of the games they've played this season ended as a blowout.
Hoxie's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Josey Kennedy led the charge by scoring 20 points along with 6 rebounds. That makes it three consecutive games in which Kennedy has scored at least 25% of Hoxie's points. Emily Bainter was another key contributor, scoring 13 points along with 8 rebounds.
Oakley's lost despite a true team effort on the offense, the best among them being Emma Mandeville, who dropped a double-double on 13 points and 11 rebounds. Mandeville is absolutely dominating the steal category: she's posted at least two every time she's taken the court this season. The team also got some help courtesy of Daysha Allison, who scored 6 points along with 6 rebounds.
Hoxie's victory bumped their record up to 3-0. As for Oakley, their defeat dropped their record down to 2-1.
Hoxie is on the road again on Saturday and play against Hodgeman County at 6:00 p.m. on December 9th. Hodgeman County will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Kansas Rankings (they are ranked 25th, while Hoxie is ranked first). As for Oakley, they will be playing at home against Osborne at 3:00 p.m. on Saturday.
