After two games on the road, Southmoreland is heading back home. They will take on the Laurel Highlands Mustangs at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Keep an eye on the score for this one: both teams posted some lofty point totals in their previous games.
Last Friday, Southmoreland was the victim of a rough 78-56 loss at the hands of the Red Raiders. The defeat unfortunately continues a disappointing trend for Southmoreland in their matchups with the Red Raiders: they've now lost eight in a row.
Meanwhile, Laurel Highlands' recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Friday after their 15th straight defeat. They lost to Belle Vernon at home by a decisive 75-56 margin. While losing is never fun, Laurel Highlands can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Pennsylvania basketball rankings (they are ranked 552nd, while the Leopards are ranked 119th).
Southmoreland has traveled a rocky road recently having lost four of their last five games, which put a noticeable dent in their 14-6 record this season. As for Laurel Highlands, they dropped their record down to 2-18 with that defeat, which was their seventh straight at home.
Southmoreland didn't have too much breathing room in their matchup against the Mustangs in their previous matchup back in January, but they still walked away with a 59-53 victory. Does Southmoreland have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Mustangs turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
