The South Central Trojans will venture away from home to face off against the Lucas Cubs at 5:00 p.m. on Friday. Lucas took a loss in their last matchup and will be looking to turn the tables on South Central, who comes in off a win.
South Central hadn't beaten New London on the road since May 16, 2023 but that history sure didn't bother them on Thursday. The Trojans were the clear victors by an 11-5 margin over the Wildcats. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest win the Trojans have posted against the Wildcats since May 13, 2022.

Viola Culler made a big impact no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, striking out six batters over seven innings while giving up three earned (and two unearned) runs off eight hits. Culler was also solid in the batter's box, going 3-for-5 with one stolen base, one run, and one double. Those three hits gave her a new career-high.
In other batting news, Zaida Myers was a standout: she went 2-for-4 with two stolen bases, three runs, and three RBI. That's the most RBI she has posted since back in April of 2024. Another player making a difference was Sydnee Middaugh, who went 3-for-5 with three RBI, one stolen base, and one run.
Meanwhile, Lucas unfortunately witnessed the end of their three-game winning streak on Friday. They took a 14-11 hit to the loss column at the hands of Willard.
Emma Brown made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and went 3-for-4 with two stolen bases, two runs, and one triple. She is on a roll when it comes to stolen bases, as she's now snagged at least one in each of the last seven games she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Olyvia Culler, who went 3-for-4 with two runs, two RBI, and one double.
The victory made it two in a row for South Central and bumps their season record up to 5-14. The wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered a grand total of 8 runs in those games. As for Lucas, their loss dropped their record down to 6-8.
The pitchers for both teams better look sharp on Friday as neither team is afraid to steal. South Central has been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 3.9 stolen bases per game. However, it's not like Lucas struggles in that department as they've been averaging 5.3 stolen bases. The only question left is which team can snag more.
South Central was able to grind out a solid victory over Lucas in their previous matchup back in May of 2024, winning 5-2. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Trojans since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
