Softball Recap: Lafayette's Luck Changes for the Better on Monday

There's no place like home for Lafayette, who bounced back after a loss on the road on Saturday. They put the hurt on the Henry Clay Blue Devils with a sharp 12-1 victory on Monday. The Generals might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won six games by nine runs or more this season.

Abby Winkler spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered only one earned run on one hit.

On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Kierstyn Kelley, who went 2-for-3 with three RBI, two doubles, and one run. Those two doubles gave her a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Addison Combs, who got on base in three of her four plate appearances with three runs and one stolen base.

Lafayette moved to 14-5 with that win, which also ended their five-game losing streak. As for Henry Clay, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 5-9.

Looking ahead, Lafayette will be playing at home against Madison Central at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Henry Clay, they will venture away from home to challenge Tates Creek at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
