Colerain entered their tilt with Middletown on Thursday with two consecutive wins, and they'll enter their next game with three. They narrowly escaped with a victory as the squad sidled past the Middies 7-5. That's two games straight that the Cardinals have won by exactly two runs.

Caleb Hesse spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered five runs (all of which were unearned) on four hits and racked up 12 Ks.

At the plate, Colerain's win was truly a team effort as four different players contributed at least one hit. One of them was Vinny Taylor, who went 2-for-4 with two RBI. Another was Dario Sanchez Tejada, who went 2-for-3 with one stolen base and one RBI.

The victory got Colerain back to even at 4-4. As for Middletown, their defeat was their eighth straight on the road dating back to last season, which dropped their record down to 0-8.
