On Saturday, the Blackford Bruins's game was all tied up 17-17 at the half, but luckily for them it didn't stay that way. They rang in the new year with a 37-30 victory over Oak Hill. The win made it back-to-back wins for Blackford.
Blackford's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Sydnee Morris led the charge by scoring seven points along with 11 rebounds and four steals. Morris has been hot recently, having posted two or more steals the last 13 times she's played. Another player making a difference was Savanna Morris, who scored ten points along with seven rebounds.
Liz Godfrey and Alivia Shaw certainly did their best on Saturday to try and avoid the loss. Godfrey scored 11 points, while Shaw scored seven points along with five rebounds.
Blackford's win bumped their record up to 14-4. As for Oak Hill, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 9-8.
Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Blackford will take on Lapel at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Lapel is looking to tack on another W to their seven-game streak on the road. As for Oak Hill, they will be playing at home against Northwestern at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday.
