Having struggled with four losses in a row, West Babylon turned things around against Smithtown East on Thursday. They came out on top against the Bulls by a score of 4-1.

Autumn Romano spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered only one earned run on three hits and racked up six Ks. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts any time she's pitched this season.
At the plate, the team relied heavily on Lauren Giudice, who went 3-for-4 with two runs and one RBI. That's the most runs she has posted since back in April of 2025. Eliza Tymann was another key player, going 1-for-3 with two RBI.
Meanwhile, Smithtown West never let their opponents score on Friday. They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 2-0 victory over Smithtown East. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest win Smithtown West has posted against Smithtown East since May 19, 2017.
The result came thanks to Azra Sciortino's shutout, as she gave up just four hits.
On the hitting side, Smithtown West saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Gianna Cataldi, who went 1-for-2 with one run.
Smithtown West hit smart and finished the game with only one strikeout. The team has now struck out at least two batters in three consecutive contests.
West Babylon's victory bumped their record up to 7-9. As for Smithtown West, their win bumped their record up to 13-5.
West Babylon came out on top in a nail-biter against Smithtown West when the teams last played back in March, sneaking past 5-3. Will the Eagles repeat their success, or do Smithtown West have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
