American Heritage is a perfect 6-0 against Barron Collier since April of 2015 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Friday. The Stallions will welcome the Cougars at 6:30 p.m. The timing is sure in American Heritage's favor as the team sits on seven straight wins at home while Barron Collier has been banged up by three consecutive losses on the road.
On Thursday, American Heritage had just enough and edged out Spanish River 6-5. The Stallions haven't had any issues with the Sharks recently, as the game was their sixth consecutive win against them.
Brady Snow tossed a big game, striking out six batters over 4.2 innings while giving up just two earned (and two unearned) runs off six hits.
At the plate, the team relied heavily on Evan Fernandez, who scored two runs and stole a base while going 2-for-3. The team also got some help courtesy of Ryan Ashley, who went 1-for-4 with one home run and two RBI.
American Heritage lost a few balls and finished the game with two home runs. That's the most home runs they've managed all season.
Meanwhile, Barron Collier came into Thursday's contest having lost three straight, but that streak is now in the rearview. They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 6-4 victory over IMG Academy Gray on Thursday.
Andrew Maroney looked comfortable as he tossed four innings while giving up three earned runs off five hits. He has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than two walks in seven consecutive appearances.
On the hitting side, Blaine Shoemaker was incredible, getting on base in all three of his plate appearances with one triple, one stolen base, and two RBI. Those two RBI gave him a new career-high. Mason Humphrey was another key player, scoring two runs and stealing a base while getting on base in all three of his plate appearances.
Barron Collier's win bumped their record up to 17-6. As for American Heritage, their victory bumped their record up to 14-9.
American Heritage was able to grind out a solid win over Barron Collier when the teams last played back in March of 2023, winning 3-0. Do the Stallions have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Cougars turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
