Football Recap: Winters Falls Short of Arcata in the Playoffs

Winters and Arcata squared off in some playoff action on Friday, but Winters had to settle for second. They lost 35-14 to the Arcata Tigers. The Warriors' defeat signaled the end of their 12-game winning streak.

Despite the loss, Winters had strong showings from Lane Brown, who threw for 197 yards and two touchdowns, and Gio Jimenez, who gained 128 total yards and a touchdown. Jimenez was no stranger to the big play, connecting on a big catch that went for 52 yards.

Luke Lemke was his usual excellent self, rushing for 145 yards and two touchdowns on only 14 carries, while also throwing for 202 yards and two touchdowns for Arcata. Lemke is on a roll when it comes to rushing touchdowns, as he's now punched in two or more in the last three games he's played.

Having lost for the first time this season, Winters fell to 12-1. As for Arcata, the victory (which was their fourth in a row) raised their record to 13-1.

Winters does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Arcata, they will square off against Portola at 7:00 p.m. on December 14th. Arcata is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 37.6 points per game this season.
