The Kermit Yellow Jackets lost against the Andrews Mustangs back in December of 2022, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Thursday. Kermit fell to Andrews 44-38. Kermit has struggled against Andrews recently, as their game on Thursday was their ninth consecutive lost matchup.
Despite the defeat, Kermit saw an underclassman step up: Leylani Quiroz scored 14 points along with five rebounds and five steals. Quiroz scored a full 36.8% of Kermit's points, the third time in a row she's earned more than a third of the team's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Ebbin Mallory, who scored eight points along with eight rebounds and three steals.
Kermit's defeat dropped their record down to 6-5. As for Andrews, their win bumped their record up to 3-8.
Kermit will face off against Midland Christian at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday. Midland Christian has insisted on making their lastfour contests complete nail-biters, turning in a record of 3-1 during that stretch of close contests. As for Andrews, they will be playing at home against Young Women's STEAM Research & Preparatory Academy at 8:00 p.m. on Thursday.
