Softball Recap: West Valley Wins High-Profile Game Against Delta

West Valley faced Delta in a battle between two of the state's top teams on Friday. The Wolf Pack beat the Huskies by the very same score they won with in their prior game: 9-7. The win was familiar territory for the Wolf Pack, who have now won five games in a row.

West Valley let Jessalyn Amundson and Madison Inderrieden run wild. Amundson went 3-for-4 with one home run and four RBI, while Inderrieden went 2-for-4 with one home run, two runs, and one triple. Those four RBI gave Amundson a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Ellie Poulsen, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with two runs and one triple.

They weren't the only ones making solid contact: West Valley kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 17 hits. That's a new trend for them: they were averaging 4.2 hits per game earlier this season, but in their last 15 matchups they've averaged 11.2.

The victory got West Valley back to even at 5-5. As for Delta, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 3-6.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. West Valley will head out to square off against Lathrop at 7:15 p.m. on Monday. As for Delta, they will take on North Pole at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday. The last three games the Patriots have played have been within two runs, so don't be surprised if it's a close one.
