Basketball Recap: Nathan Jackson's Big Game Can't Quite Lead Spring Creek over Midway

After flying high against Wayne Christian last Saturday, Spring Creek came back down to earth. The Spring Creek Gators fell just short of the Midway Raiders by a score of 67-65 on Monday. The result was an unpleasant reminder to the Gators of the 70-48 loss they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in January.

Several Gators players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Nathan Jackson, who went 9 of 13 on his way to 25 points in addition to seven rebounds and three steals. What's more, Jackson also racked up two assists, the most he's had since back in November of 2023. Another player making a difference was Brennan Chambers, who posted 14 points in addition to eight boards and five assists.

Spring Creek's defeat was their sixth straight at home dating back to last season, which dropped their record down to 1-3. Those losses can't be blamed on the team's offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 58.8 points per game. As for Midway, the win keeps them at an undefeated 5-0.

Spring Creek will square off against Arendell Parrott Academy at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday. As for Midway, they will take on James Kenan at 7:30 p.m. on Wednesday.
