South Pike posted their biggest victory since December 12, 2023 on Tuesday. They blew past Wesson 77-56.
South Pike can attribute much of their success to Jovon Leavy, who scored 27 points along with nine rebounds, and Lavell Thompson, who dropped a double-double on 25 points and 18 rebounds. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Thompson has scored all season. The team also got some help courtesy of Donald Lewis, who scored six points along with four steals.
Meanwhile, Jefferson County entered their tilt with Port Gibson with two consecutive wins but they'll enter their next game with three. Jefferson County snuck past Port Gibson with a 75-71 win on Tuesday.
South Pike's victory bumped their record up to 9-13. As for Jefferson County, they are on a roll lately: they've won seven of their last nine matches, which provided a nice bump to their 9-9 record this season.
South Pike didn't have too much breathing room in their matchup against Jefferson County when the teams last played on January 9th, but they still walked away with a 77-73 victory.
