It may have taken overtime to finish the job, but the North Point Eagles ultimately got the result they hoped for on Friday. They skirted past Leonardtown 50-48. The victory made it back-to-back wins for North Point.
Despite the loss, Leonardtown still got an impressive performance from Gretchen Fleck, who scored 16 points along with seven rebounds and two steals. It was the first time this season that Fleck scored 15 or more points. Another player making a difference was Teonne Thomas, who scored seven points along with ten rebounds.
North Point has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won ten of their last 11 matchups, which provided a massive bump to their 12-5 record this season. As for Leonardtown, their defeat ended a five-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 11-5.
North Point won't have much time to rest: their next matchup is against the Raiders at 12:30 p.m. on February 3rd. Hopefully Loch Raven focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up six on Friday. As for Leonardtown, they will be playing in front of their home fans against the Wolverines at 6:30 p.m. on Monday. Westlake is no doubt hoping to put an end to a four-game streak of away losses.
