The Sublette Larks will challenge the Colby Eagles at 4:00 p.m. on Friday. Both come into the game bolstered by wins in their previous matches.
Sublette took a six-run defeat the last time they faced off against Lakin, but this time they managed to keep it close and that made all the difference. The Larks sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 9-8 victory over the Broncs on Monday. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest win the Larks have posted since May 3, 2024.
Meanwhile, Colby had already won five in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 5.8 runs) and they went ahead and made it six on Tuesday. They were the clear victors by a 13-2 margin over Hugoton. The result was nothing new for Colby, who have now won five matches by six runs or more so far this season.
Ryler Carter was a major factor while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run and allowing only one hit while striking out six over four innings pitched. Carter was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-4 with two runs, one stolen base, and one RBI.
In other batting news, Briley Kleinsorge was a standout: she went a perfect 3-for-3 with four runs, one double, and one RBI. Those four runs gave her a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Myka Nolan, who went 2-for-3 with three RBI and two runs.
Colby hit smart and finished the game with only two strikeouts. The team has now struck out at least five batters in three consecutive contests.
Colby's victory was their eighth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 12-4. Those home wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 11.1 runs over those games. As for Sublette, they are on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four games. That's provided a massive bump to their 4-5-1 record this season.
Sublette suffered a grim 15-4 defeat to Colby when the teams last played back in April of 2024. Will the Larks have more luck at home instead of on the road? Come back here after the game to get an analysis of the match and other softball content.
