After having lost a blowout in their previous game against Wilson Christian Academy, the Wake Christian Academy Bulldogs were happy to have found some success on Tuesday. They escaped with a win against Cary Academy by the margin of a single free throw, 35-34. That result was just more of the same for these two, as Wake Christian Academy also won the last time the pair played back in January.
Leading Wake Christian Academy to victory were Caroline Hall and Emma Crissman. Hall scored seven points along with nine rebounds and four blocks, while Crissman scored 18 points along with eight rebounds. That makes it 11 consecutive games in which Crissman has scored at least 25% of Wake Christian Academy's points.
Cary Academy's loss came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Sadie McMahon, who scored 14 points along with six rebounds. The matchup was McMahon's fourth in a row with at least ten points. Caitlin Smith was another key contributor, scoring ten points along with five steals.
Wake Christian Academy now has a winning record of 6-5. As for Cary Academy, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 4-3.
Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Wake Christian Academy's homestand continues as they prepare to take on St. Mary's at 5:30 p.m. on December 14th. St. Mary's has been getting the ball to fall more lately as they've increased their point totals each of their last three games. Cary Academy will be home for the holidays to greet Charlotte Country Day School at 5:00 p.m. on Friday. Charlotte Country Day School is strutting with some offensive muscle, as they've averaged 50.1 points per game.
