Fairfield has won six straight games at home, while Foothill has won six straight on the road, but those streaks won't matter much on Wednesday. The Fairfield Falcons will welcome the Foothill Mustangs at 7:00 p.m. After both made easy work of their previous opponents, one won't be so lucky on Wednesday.
Fairfield is headed into the matchup after thoroughly thrashing Florin: they outscored them in every quarter. Given that consistent dominance, it should come as no surprise that Fairfield blew Florin out of the water with a 61-25 final score. The contest marked the Falcons' most dominant win of the season.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Fairfield to victory, but perhaps none more so than Davion Johnson, who posted eight points in addition to 11 boards and four steals. Johnson has become a key player for Fairfield: the team is 13-1 when he posts at least eight rebounds, but 3-4 otherwise. Another player making a difference was Johnnie Jones, who went 5 of 8 en route to 11 points and five boards.
Meanwhile, Foothill blew past Armijo, posting a 79-39 victory. The Mustangs have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won seven games by 22 points or more this season.
Fairfield better keep an eye on Tomari Harris. He was instrumental in Foothill's win, going 6 for 11 from beyond the arc on his way to 30 points and six rebounds. The dominant performance gave Harris a new career-high in points. The team also got some help courtesy of Joshua Landi, who went 5 of 8 en route to 13 points.
Foothill was working as a unit and finished the game with 12 assists. That's the most assists they've managed all season.
Fairfield is on a roll lately: they've won 11 of their last 12 matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 16-5 record this season. As for Foothill, their win bumped their record up to 13-8.
Rebounding is likely to be a big factor in this contest: Fairfield has been crashing the boards this season, having averaged 35 rebounds per game. However, it's not like Foothill struggles in that department as they've been averaging 29.3 boards. With both teams battling to corral missed shots, we'll see if one team can grab an edge.
Fairfield beat Foothill 60-52 when the teams last played on January 8th. Does Fairfield have another victory up their sleeve, or will Foothill turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
