The Denver South Ravens are taking a road trip to take on the Overland Trailblazers at 3:30 p.m. on Wednesday. Both come into the match bolstered by wins in their previous matches.
Denver South was handed a six-run loss in their previous outing, but that didn't affect their clutch gene on Tuesday. They had just enough and edged out George Washington 4-2. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest victory the Ravens have posted since May 3, 2024.
Hunter Vitello tossed a big game, not allowing a single earned run while striking out nine over 5.2 innings pitched.
At the plate, Denver South's win was truly a team effort as five different players contributed at least one hit. One of them was Dylan Coppock, who went 2-for-3 with one stolen base and one run. Leo Royer was another, going a perfect 2-for-2 with one RBI.
Meanwhile, Overland got themselves on the board against Thornton on Thursday, but Thornton never followed suit. They put the hurt on the Trojans with a sharp 15-0 victory. Considering the Trailblazers have won five contests by more than nine runs this season, Thursday's blowout was nothing new.
Kevin Uribe made a splash no matter where he played. On the mound, he pitched three innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. The dominant performance also gave him a new career-high in strikeouts (two). He was also big at the plate, going 2-for-3 with two runs and one RBI. Overland is undefeated when Uribe posts two or more runs, but 2-8 otherwise.
In other batting news, Brayan Ascensio was incredible, going a perfect 3-for-3 with three stolen bases, three runs, and two RBI. Those three runs gave him a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Ruben Luna, who went 2-for-3 with two runs and two RBI.
Overland always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .704. The team's really been improving in that area: they've now improved their OBP total in three consecutive games.
Denver South's record is now 8-5. As for Overland, their record now sits at 6-8.
