The Independence Eagles will be playing in front of their home fans against the Cane Ridge Ravens at 7:30 p.m. on Monday. Independence has been dominant on offense recently, as they've racked up an incredible 215 points over their last three games.
Independence has made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won three games by 26 points or more this season. They took their contest on the road on Friday with ease, bagging a 73-38 win over Fairview. Given Independence's advantage in MaxPreps' Tennessee basketball rankings (they are ranked 72nd, while Fairview is ranked 293rd), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Meanwhile, Cane Ridge fought the good fight in their overtime match against LaVergne on Friday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They fell just short of the Wolverines by a score of 56-53. Cane Ridge has not had much luck with LaVergne recently, as the team's come up short the last two times they've met.
Despite the defeat, Cane Ridge had strong showings from Avyion Mccleton, who scored 22 points, and Adam Clark, who scored 15 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Da'ron Hall, who scored 6 points.
Independence's victory lifted them to 4-2 while Fairview's defeat dropped them down to 0-5.
Independence strolled past Cane Ridge when the teams last played back in November of 2022 by a score of 76-59. Will Independence repeat their success, or does Cane Ridge have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
