Kesner Spencer ran for two touchdowns and
Josh Greer added two as well as
Grenada (Miss.) defeated DeSoto Central (Southaven, Miss.) 51-14 on Saturday.
After taking the lead on a field goal by
Grant Martin in the second quarter, the Chargers led 9-6 at the half.
Grenada expanded its lead to 31 points entering the fourth quarter. GHS scored four times in the third, including once on a touchdown run by
Kevarious Harges.
The Chargers scored 28 points in the third quarter on the way to a win. Grenada scored on four rushing touchdowns in the quarter, including one by
Nathan Evans.
The Jaguars came in allowing just 17.6 points per game this season. DeSoto Central struggled against Grenada's offense, which entered the game scoring 24.5 points per game.
The Chargers also won the meeting between the two teams last season, 59-29.
The loss comes after DeSoto Central defeated Christian Brothers 21-14 last week. The loss broke DeSoto Central's two-game winning streak.
Grenada (5-0) will play a 6A Region 1 game against Tupelo next week, while DeSoto Central (3-3) will take on Horn Lake also in a 6A Region 1 game.
