The Community Christian Warriors were the 52-25 winner over the Stephenville FAITH Knights when they last played one another back in January of 2023, but their luck changed this time around. Community Christian fell to the Knights 44-38. While losing is never fun, Community Christian can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Texas basketball rankings (they are ranked 1274th, while the Knights are ranked 612th).
When it comes to explaining why Community Christian lost on Tuesday, one person who can't be blamed is Olivia Buchanan. Despite the final result, she almost dropped a double-double on nine rebounds and ten steals. Buchanan hasn't dropped below three steals for five straight games. The team also got some help courtesy of Kendal Gil, who scored 14 points along with four steals.
Bailey Necessary was the offensive standout of the match as she scored seven points along with ten rebounds and three blocks.
This is the second loss in a row for Community Christian and nudges their season record down to 4-13. As for Stephenville FAITH, the win (which was their sixth in a row) raised their record to 14-3.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Community Christian will take on the Knights at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday. The timing is sure in Joshua Christian's favor as the team sits on three straight wins at home while the Warriors have been banged up by five consecutive losses on the road. Stephenville FAITH is on the road again on Tuesday and plays the at 6:30 p.m. on February 6th. Texas Wind's defense has only allowed 29.5 points per game this season, so the Knights' offense will have their work cut out for them.
