Hoover suffered their closest defeat since December 29, 2023 on Tuesday. They fell just short of San Diego by a score of 61-58. Hoover has not had much luck with San Diego recently, as the team's come up short the last four times they've met.
Meanwhile, University City waltzed into their game on Tuesday with two straight wins but they left with three. They put the hurt on Madison with a sharp 65-44 victory. Given University City's advantage in MaxPreps' California basketball rankings (they are ranked 174th, while Madison is ranked 558th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
University City's success was spearheaded by the efforts of Dylan Griffin, who scored 21 points along with five rebounds, and Ben Gavani, who scored 16 points along with six rebounds and two blocks. Griffin hasn't dropped below 15points for seven straight games. Tyshaun Harris was another key contributor, scoring seven points along with two steals.
Hoover's loss dropped their record down to 15-9. As for University City, they are on a roll lately: they've won seven of their last eight matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 16-7 record this season.
