After having lost a blowout in their previous game against Mulberry, the Four Corners Coyotes were happy to have found some success on Monday. They claimed a resounding 55-13 victory over Mater Brighton Lakes Academy at home. With Four Corners ahead 28-4 at the half, the matchup was all but over already.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Four Corners to victory, but perhaps none more so than Danielys Pena Ponce, who dropped a double-double on 17 points and 10 rebounds. That makes it three consecutive games in which Pena Ponce has scored at least 25% of Four Corners' points. Another player making a difference was Karina Cruz, who scored 14 points along with 9 rebounds and 5 steals.
Despite the loss, Mater Brighton Lakes Academy still got an impressive performance from Delianie Diaz, who scored 9 points. Diaz scored a full 69.2% of Mater Brighton Lakes Academy's points, the fifth time in a row she's earned more than a third of the team's points.
Four Corners' win bumped their record up to 1-2. As for Mater Brighton Lakes Academy, they bumped their record down to 1-4 with that defeat, which was their fourth straight on the road.
