Paris and Berea are an even 5-5 against one another since April of 2018, but likely not for long. The Greyhounds will square off against the Pirates at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. Both come into the contest bolstered by wins in their previous matches.
Paris gave up the first runs on Wednesday, but they didn't let that get them down. They walked away with a 6-1 victory over Pendleton County. While the Greyhounds didn't have the best season last year (they finished 14-18), it's starting to look like those struggles are a thing of the past.

Dexter Leverett made a big impact while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound, striking out seven batters over three innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit (and only one walk). Those seven strikeouts gave him a new career-high. He was also solid in the batter's box, scoring two runs while getting on base in all four of his plate appearances.
In other batting news, Cameron Mays was incredible, scoring a run and stealing six bases while going 2-for-4. He has been hot recently, having posted two or more stolen bases the last four times he's played.
Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Berea). They put the hurt on Menifee County with a sharp 25-6 win on Wednesday. The team's explosion at the plate also rewarded the Pirates with their most commanding win of the season.
Tommie Banderman was a standout: he went 3-for-4 with seven RBI, three runs, and two doubles. Nathan Prophitt was another key player, getting on base in all five of his plate appearances with four runs, three RBI, and one triple.
Paris has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won six of their last seven games. That's provided a nice bump to their 10-5 record this season. The victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 11.3 runs over those games. As for Berea, the win (which was their third in a row) raised their record to 6-3.
Thursday's matchup might come down to which pitcher can control the ball better. Paris has hit smart this season, having averaged an OBP of .455. However, it's not like Berea struggles in that department as they've averaged .513. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
