The Loomis Wolves's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Tuesday after their third straight defeat. They fell to Axtell 61-55. Having run the score up that high, both teams probably have some extra defensive drills coming up.
Despite the defeat, Loomis had strong showings from Cale Nelson, who scored 21 points along with seven rebounds, and Tyson Essex, who scored 17 points. Graham Trompke was another key contributor, scoring six points along with six rebounds.
Axtell got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Carson Lindau out in front who scored 24 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Ethan Morgan, who dropped a double-double on 17 points and 12 rebounds.
Loomis' defeat ended a four-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 10-10. As for Axtell, the victory was the third in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 14-6.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Loomis will take on Pleasanton at 7:45 p.m. on Friday.
