The Catholic Central Crusaders's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Monday after their fourth straight defeat. They were beaten by Monroe Central 69-34. The loss unfortunately continues a disappointing trend for Catholic Central in their matchups with the Seminoles: they've now lost five in a row.
Despite the loss, Catholic Central still got an impressive performance from Anna Arai, who dropped a double-double on 14 points and 11 rebounds. Arai is crushing the rebound category: she's posted at least eight every time she's taken the court this season. Ella Maragos was another key contributor, scoring ten points.
Catholic Central dropped their record down to 9-10 with that loss, which was their fourth straight on the road. As for Monroe Central, their victory bumped their record up to 16-4.
Catholic Central will be staying on the road on Saturday to face off against the Cougars at 4:00 p.m. on February 3rd. That game will pit two of the most dominant forwards against one another: Morgan Haught and Arai. As for Monroe Central, they will look to defend their home court on Saturday against the Pilots at 6:00 p.m. River is also coming in off of a big victory, so somebody is in for a big reversal of fortune.
