After both having extra time off, the Metrolina Christian Academy Warriors and the Covenant Day Lions will shake off the cobwebs and hit the court against one another at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Metrolina Christian Academy is currently enjoying a perfect season and no doubt wants to keep things rolling.
Last Tuesday, Metrolina Christian Academy made easy work of South Mecklenburg and carried off a 3-0 win.
Metrolina Christian Academy not only won, but also showed off some consistency: they kept South Mecklenburg between 13 and 16 points across their sets. The match finished with set scores of 25-16, 25-13, 25-14.
Meanwhile, Covenant Day is ranked highly in their home state and on Tuesday they took on another highly ranked team in the form of Legion Collegiate Academy. The Lions were the clear victors by a 3-0 margin over the Lancers. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Lions.
Covenant Day never let Legion Collegiate Academy on the board, but things got pretty close in the second set. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 25-21, 26-24, 25-18.
Covenant Day found their leader in sophomore Ben Keefer, who had 38 assists and nine digs. Keefer has been hot for a while, having posted 13 or more assists the last 15 times he's played.
Covenant Day's victory bumped their record up to 6-1. As for Metrolina Christian Academy, their win bumped their record up to 4-0.
Here's a few offensive stats to keep an eye on ahead of Tuesday's contest: Metrolina Christian Academy has really dialed in their serving this season, having averaged 12.8 aces per game. However, it's not like Covenant Day struggles in that department as they've been averaging 11.4 aces. Given these competing strengths, it'll be interesting to see how their clash plays out.
