Softball Recap: Make It Three in a Row for Live Oak

Live Oak won against Del Mar last Friday with 14 runs and they decided to stick to that run total again on Wednesday. Everything went Live Oak's way against the Silver Creek Raiders as Live Oak made off with a 14-4 win. Winning may never get old, but the Acorns sure are getting used to it with their third in a row.

Julianna Altamirano made a splash while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run while striking out 13 over five innings pitched. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than one walk any time she's pitched this season. She was also big at the plate, scoring three runs and stealing a base while going 3-for-4. Those three runs gave her a new career-high.

In other batting news, Ava Chapman was a standout: she went 2-for-4 with two runs, one triple, and one double. That triple marked the first that she hit this season. Tilly Hill was another key player, going 3-for-4 with three RBI and one triple.

Live Oak hit smart and finished the game with only one strikeout. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now struck out at most four strikeouts in three consecutive games.

Live Oak's record now sits at 8-1. As for Silver Creek, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost four of their last five matchups. That's put a noticeable dent in their 5-5 record this season.

We've got plenty of inter-league action coming up soon. Live Oak will face off against rival Prospect at 4:00 p.m. on Friday. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (Live Oak 1.4, Prospect 3.6) so any runs scored will be well earned. Meanwhile, Silver Creek is set to take on their familiar foe Piedmont Hills at 4:00 p.m. on Friday.
