Johnson has gone 9-1 against Churchill recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Thursday. The Jaguars will look to defend their home field against the Chargers at 7:00 p.m. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (Johnson has eight straight victories, Churchill has seven straight losses), but none of that matters once you're on the field.
On Friday, Johnson was fully in charge, breezing past LEE 41-6. The Jaguars might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won five games by 28 points or more this season.
Elvis Estrada had another great game (as he tends to do), throwing for 118 yards and a pair of TDs while completing 78.6% of his passes, and also punching in one score on the ground.

Another reason for the win was Johnson's imposing defense, which managed to get into the backfield for five sacks. Matthew Paris was particularly dangerous to the passing game, picking up two himself. He also set a new season-high mark in total tackles with seven.
Meanwhile, Churchill came up short against Reagan on Friday and fell 35-25. While losing is never fun, the Chargers can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Texas football rankings (they are ranked 570th, while the Rattlers are ranked 198th).
Johnson will need to focus on slowing down Kalobe Rond, one of several Churchill players who made an impact when they last played. He rushed for 108 yards and one touchdown, and also picked up 62 receiving yards. Another signal caller making a difference was Jayden Garcia, who threw for 230 yards and one TD.
Churchill's defeat dropped their record down to 1-7. As for Johnson, their win bumped their record up to 8-0.
Thursday's contest might be decided in the trenches. Johnson has been excellent on the ground this season, having averaged 189.4 rushing yards per game. It's a different story for Churchill, though, as they've been averaging only 82 rushing yards. How will they fare against such a dominant running game?
Everything came up roses for Johnson against Churchill in their previous matchup back in November of 2024, as the squad secured a 35-0 victory. Do the Jaguars have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Chargers turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
