If BASIS - Mesa were riding high off their 62-19 takedown of the BASIS - Prescott Coyote last Friday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. BASIS - Mesa took a hard 63-44 fall against Tri-City Christian Academy on Tuesday. While losing is never fun, BASIS - Mesa can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Arizona basketball rankings (they are ranked 167th, while Tri-City Christian Academy is ranked 27th).
BASIS - Mesa's defeat came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Cayden Plese, who dropped a double-double on 18 points and ten rebounds. Plese is absolutely dominating the steal category: he's posted at least two every time he's taken the court this season. The team also got some help courtesy of Luke Foster, who scored ten points along with seven rebounds and three steals.
Tri-City Christian Academy found their leader in underclassman Fulvio Dos Santos, who scored 31 points along with eight rebounds and three steals. Another player making a difference was Jonathan Henry, who scored 13 points along with three steals.
BASIS - Mesa now has a losing record at 1-2. As for Tri-City Christian Academy, the win was the 26th in a row (dating back to last season) for them, bringing their record for this year to 2-0.
BASIS - Mesa won't have much time to rest: their next contest is against BASIS - Peoria at 6:30 p.m. on December 13th. BASIS - Peoria will be looking to extend their current three-game winning streak. As for Tri-City Christian Academy, they will head out on the road to face off against Ville de Marie Academy at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday.
