Hillsborough and Wharton are an even 4-4 against one another since December of 2020, but not for long. The Hillsborough Terriers are on the road again on Friday and plays the Wharton Wildcats at 7:00 p.m. on February 9th. One thing working in Hillsborough's favor is that they have posted big point totals in their last seven games.
With a playoff game on the line, Hillsborough rose to the challenge on Wednesday. They came out on top against the Cougars by a score of 57-44.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Hillsborough to victory, but perhaps none more so than Ja'mya Roberson, who scored 15 points. Ellayna Stephens was another key contributor, scoring 12 points.
In what's become a running theme this season, Wharton gave their fans yet another huge win on Wednesday. They claimed a resounding 62-22 victory over Largo at home. The win was just what Wharton needed coming off of a 73-49 loss in their prior game.
Hillsborough pushed their record up to 17-7 with that win, which was their fifth straight on the road. Those victories were due in large part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 62.2 points per game. As for Wharton, their victory bumped their record up to 21-4.
Hillsborough came up short against Wharton when the teams last played back in January, falling 50-46. Can Hillsborough avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
