The Greenbrier Christian Academy Gators will challenge the Granby Comets at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Keep an eye on the score for this one: the two teams posted some lofty run totals in their previous games.
On Monday, Greenbrier Christian Academy got the win against Isle of Wight Academy by a conclusive 11-1. The Gators might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won 13 matchups by nine runs or more this season.
Brady Drew was a standout: he got on base in all four of his plate appearances with two stolen bases, two runs, and one triple. Another player making a difference was Ryan Watson, who went 3-for-5 with four RBI, two doubles, and one stolen base.
Greenbrier Christian Academy always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .564. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Isle of Wight Academy only posted an OBP of .261.
Granby came out on top against Norview on Friday thanks in part to the team's impressive six-run sixth inning. The Comets took their game against the Pilots 11-6.
PORTER STEENROD made a splash while hitting and pitching. He pitched three innings while giving up just two earned (and one unearned) runs off three hits. STEENROD was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-4 with two RBI and one double.
In other batting news, CHARLIE ALLAIN was incredible, going 2-for-4 with three runs, one stolen base, and two RBI. Those two RBI gave him a new career-high. TRISTAN MU?OZ was another key player, getting on base in three of his five plate appearances with two runs and one RBI.
Greenbrier Christian Academy's win was their ninth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 22-5. The road victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 12.4 runs over those games. As for Granby, their win bumped their record up to 7-5.
Tuesday's contest will be a test for both teams' pitchers. Greenbrier Christian Academy hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .332. However, it's not like Granby struggles in that department as they've averaged .333. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
